Amsterdam Day 1: Onthaal aan Amsterdam!

8th October 2009

How can you not love a place which greets you with a view like this on the plane?

Excitement kicked in when we were running in Schiphol Airport bidding farewell to the others (who had to catch their flight back to KL) and then officially exiting the airport doors and setting foot in the city!

Amsterdam, we're here!!! Hello true vacation!

Coinciding with our visit was the Elephant Parade where full size art baby elephants are displayed throughout the city. The elephants are all painted by local and international artists and after the exhibition will go on auction. Elephant Parade raises attention and funds for the conservation of Asian Elephants.

Hence, the many random artsy elephants in the collection of photos :)

Throughout our stay in Amsterdam, we stayed in Hotel Annemarie which is just next to the Concertgebouw (concert hall) and opposite Museumplein. Everything else which are in the 'to-do-list' in the city is just a walking distance away, including LeidsePlein.

Arriving at night basically allows us to check-in, have dinner, and konk out early...what a way to begin our Amsterdam journey.

It gets better, I promise.
