Make your own album cover

One of those procrastinating things to do.

RULES:

1 - Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random... Read More... Read More” or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to "Random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last 4 or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use photoshop, the gimp or similar to put it all together.

Rachel's Birthday = Monkeys + Booze

To start off: Happy Birthday Rachel!
I found out on this night that in Waterfront, Yong Tau Foo is bar food. And Min's guacomole is soooo gewd! Well, basically I gravitated to wherever food was, but then again, I was really hungry. The Loft presented the birthday girl with a Flaming Lamborghini (haha deja vu) and also lighted up this glass of alco and made her drink it with a straw. Rachel took a long sip then yelled "It's on fire! It's on FIRE!!!"

They stuck a plastic straw right into flaming booze. Absolute genius.

Met tonnes of really cool people.
Amir Yussof was there.

Got a monkey drunk.

21 Feb 09

Busiestcraziest Saturday I can ever remember. And, me, honorary engineering undergrad. Ha.

The cool thing about the Engineering Faculty is that they have the Dean's Cup where they have this whole load of sporting events for the staff and various courses to compete in. Kinda wished that the Science Faculty has that so that I could have played for EnvSc.

I spent first half of the day watching the futsal matches, and then the latter half being a spectator at badminton (which was pretty fun). Obviously I was rooting for Civil :) (Which won in badminton, btw)

Fiesta Cahaya was on that night too and it's the second time I've been to it. Unfortunately it was kind of boring.

But yea, it was the weekend so it's kinda special *ahem* and I saw Usha Babusha after such a long time!

the other thing

Whilst my last couple of nights have been busy with great people celebrating me being older, the daytime hours were occupied by attending seminars and consultants' meetings.

The 2nd International Workshop on Climate Change Impacts on Surface Water Quality in East Asian Watersheds was held in the uni from the 18th to the 20th of February. And we, being "oh-so-responsible" postgrads attended it to enhance our knowledge.

what the heck :P

Also we sent our superb senior off at the airport (whom, btw, successfully survived his viva voce and is now a PhD holder). I know he was touched by the posters we made for him. He insisted on getting us stuff so I ended up with a small Toblerone bar attached to a monkey.

Bye Zaharin! We'll somehow miss you!

To conclude Thursday night, we leeched off Prof Harun by attending the dinner held for all who were involved/present in the seminar. Technically, we attended the seminar, so yea :) Seafood galore, oh my!

Best Birthday Ever

* update: here's another blog entry by Anthea on my birthday. Thanks :) Photos are up in my Facebook
It's been a downright crazybusy week.
What can I say? I feel so loved. "Secret plans" were being plotted with and without my knowledge. On the tennis court and off. How subtle *lol*.

It began last Saturday on V-day where I was treated to dinner by Kenny, like so pleasantly-surprised :)

On the eve of the 'speshul day' Jesper, Jim, and Mei fed me JAP FOOD, like omg that was sooo awesome. Sashimi, Sukiyaki and ShabuShabu in Nishiki (which claims to be the oldest and the best Japanese restaurant in KK -- it's opposite the Tourism Information centre in Gaya Street, btw) followed by (yes Jin, drool away) a Brownie with Vanilla Ice-cream.

And then dum-da-dum-dum...on Wednesday night, the rest of the gang kicked it old skool for me. Pizza Hut is so the place! It was supposed to be like some food then we'll move on to a 'more entertaining' spot, but ended up over-fed and hanging around till the place closed.

this is NOT my cake

Thanks a gajibazillion bunch to
YuLi, Alex, RenYih, Anthea, Alvin, Steffie, Bibi, HinLam, WaiSing, and ChinYik.

Then we PAR-TAY-ed :)

And today, it's back to the ol' work routine as if nothing extraordinary happened last night.
...half of us looked pretty much stoned.

I would like to take the opportunity here to thank everyone for their wishes (which came pouring in by the gallon). I had an awesome time and would like to show-off the pressies I got:

Swarovski crystals earrings from YuLi

a pair of exotic "so-LiYing" looking earrings from Francoise and Cheanie

another load of jewellery from Steffie :)

Bodyshop's Velique from WaiSing and Alvin

Elianto Green Tea goodies from HinLam

Amir Yussof at The Office Pub

According to the pasted A4-notice, live bands perform on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Last night was more like an open-mic night actually. Apparently it was Amir Yussof's bday and since I contributed 5sen worth and about a liter of creative juice to picking his present (which was an incredibly fun shopping adventure in itself) I decided to head down to the pub and watch him perform.

It was pretty good, although performances rotated among him, a Brit couple (I think) and this other white dude. It's a bit hard to hear 'cos people seemed to talk more than listen (to music) there :)

Had to leave not too late, ventilation was kinda bad and besides, I have deadlines to meet.

Back to Work

The thing about holidays and being home is the reluctance to come back to work. Well, of course there's this story of a note in facebook about a drop-dead gorgeous, absent-minded, female protagonist who turned up in KL International Airport a whole day earlier for her flight.

Yes. I did that absolutely moronic thing.

Ended up spending a night in KL City.

I like what I am doing as there are plenty of opportunities to travel around, sometimes going to unknown places, and meeting really interesting people. Two things that suck about this is 1) there's always this craving for luxury..like hot showers or hotel beds; 2) the amount of work to be done upon getting back.

Ploughing through massive tonnes of data and analysing them. Thinking, and thinking, and boiling my brain juice to come up with viable methods to carry out more studies. Meeting deadlines of reports.

February is an incredibly short, busy, and fun month.

Next week will be even more eventful.
