Achtung, Baby!

BERLIN, here we come!!!

After all the turmoils and exhaustion, it's really hard to believe that we are going to Berlin! That we are representing the country to compete in a global competition.

The thought is exhilarating! And the excitement and morale grow as we manisfest more on that thought.

SIFE UMS will be in KL for the next five days before we jet off to Berlin on the 1st of October. Cultural fair is on the 4th and The Competition begins on the 5th, up till the 6th.

It's really, truly happening :)

It'd be great if we go off with the support and prayers of the good people of Malaysia.

Feeling the first tendrils of the SIFE spirit,
Li Ying

p/s: Amsterdam, oh yea... ;P

Eid ul-Fitr

SELAMAT HARI RAYA!

The CM and the Ministers had an "open house" thingie today for the festivities. I know it's an annual thing, but this is my first time.

the hungry peeps I went with

Basically it's just tonnes of free food in tents, and a humoungous crowd of (hungry) people. The photos can tell the story.

part of the OMG crowd

one of the caterers was roasting racks of mutton

the Chief Minister was there with the public

Selamat Hari Raya and happy holidays to all,

eggs about it

Who was it who said to us the other day? "Life IS Shit".

It really is.

So at the end of it, you make the best of it just to get through it.

wtf.
When people do things and then wash their hands off the consequences.
When people shrug off their responsibilities and make others do the dirty work.
When people say one thing to one side, and then another to the other side.
When people accuses one of fear when one is only being concerned.

When you are guiltless you'll never be afraid. You only feel bad because you are helpless. There's nothing more we could do.

I would like to explain, but it's pretty pointless when no one bothers to accept it anyway. What a waste of time.

Cynical and selfish as it may sound, I still believe that when you stop caring, things don't get to you so much.

Which just reemphasise the concept of "Life REALLY is Shit".

But then again, it's human nature to expect rewards for their efforts. And when you don't get rewarded, everyone else who did are deemed undeserving.

Life is shit. You can't please everyone.

Just needed to get it out of the system,

46th Anniversary..

..of the formation of our beloved country.
SELAMAT HARI MALAYSIA!
hot One-Malaysia guys ;P

Apart from the fact that I am being on the side of the country where this meaningful day actually means something, it is also a public holiday which means I can finally sleep for a decent amount of time, and have breakfast after so long.
I know I'm supposed to fast for the nation's peace but since I've really fasted today, I reckon I should grab the opportunity to have proper breakfast. "Proper" reads sitting down somewhere eating proper food, and not eating an apple while stuck in the traffic jam.

Embracing diversity,

Love thy rivers

The voice of my ancestors said to me,
The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not simply water, but the blood of your grandfather's grandfather.
Each ghostly reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tell of memories in the life of our people. The water's murmur here is the voice of your great-great grandmother.
The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst.
They carry our canoes and feed our children.
You must give to the rivers the kindness you would give to any brother.
* * *
Days are getting shorter. We're running out of time. So much still to do, but also on the bright side, I'm really looking forward to it. Just hope we won't be too exhausted to enjoy it when the time comes. Wait. Exhausted? In Europe? NOT.
I'm currently contemplating if I should extend my stay for a couple of days and hang around in Amsterdam. The thought of exploring a foreign country by myself is a little scary, but exhilarating too!
And then there's the most important thing in the world: do I have enough cash to spare?
Late night thoughts,

weeping for the environment

How can anyone say global warming isn't true?

colours

Did you know that there are 133 standard Crayola colours, ranging from Almond to Yellow Orange? And there's a colour called Razzmatazz.

I really like my new place although I broke into hives the first two nights here. But since I'm prone to that occasionally for unknown reasons, and antihistamines help, it's not so much of a problem.

I realised that we only have roughly three more weeks to settle everything to perfection before we head down to KL for courtesy calls and then to Berlin. And yet still so much to do. It kinda seems as if only two people are running the show. And running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Ew. Gross. But disgusting similes aside, I am really grateful for them.

The rains have come again. I love it when it hits the leaves and branches of the tree outside my window. And I'm doing random procrastinating late night blabbering.

Btw, just in case anyone's interested to know I had a pair of lousy Charles and Keiths. The seam actually broke after I wore them for like three times. And they were my only formal black pair... Nine West had a sale the other day with 70% off (omg) and I got this pair of gorgeous babies:

And then, as luck would have it, I found this last pair of booties in my size in Roxy:

I am all set, shoes-wise, for Berlin! At least now I don't have to worry of my toes freezing and falling off while I'm there.

but of what that can be still done."
